PURPOSE: To provide a report generation system which can easily generate a report including a picture.

CONSTITUTION: When patient information on a name, an age and an acceptance date on a patient are inputted from a keyboard 40 and picture information on a result obtained by clinically inspecting a sample extracted from the patient is inputted from a CCD camera 30, respective pieces of information are registered into a data base 21. The information are displayed on a display 50 in accordance with display layout information 22. When comment information is inputted by an inspector observing the display screen, the information is displayed on the display 50 and is registered in a data base 21. Respective pieces of information registered in the data base 21 are outputted from a video printer 60 as the report following output layout information 23.
