PURPOSE: To obtain a clock dial which is high in its mass production property, and excellent in its design, by performing the same plating onto the upper surface and the side surface of a character projected from the dial by press work.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a clock dial 5 is subjected to the ground treatment such as a pattern, etc., and after that, is subjected to silver plating 6, and also, on this silver plating 6, an electric insulating film 7 is formed by a coating material. Subsequently, it is passed by a metallic die, and a character 8 is projected. A part of a side part 8c of the character 8 is projected from the dial 5 in a state that a shearing state has been added, and a side surface 8b of the character is made to expose its metallic surface. Subsequently, when the metallic surface is exposed by grinding an upper surface 8a of the character 8, the whole surface of the character is gold-plated 9 since the upper surface 8a and the side surface 8b of the character 8 are exposed.
