To provide a system which enables a pulse width modulator to form video data to a laser at a frequency independent of an operating frequency.
The system 10 is provided with a phase measurement circuit 32, an edge output decision circuit 32, an edge positioning circuit 32, and an adder. The phase measurement circuit 32 works to detect a phase offset on scanlines. The edge output decision circuit 32 works to decide a system cycle at which output an edge on system clock 54, and the system clock works as if were on a video clock. The edge output decision circuit 32 works to decide an edge position of a given pixel. The adder communicates with the phase measurement circuit 32, the edge output decision circuit 32 and the edge positioning circuit 32. The adder combines values from the phase measurement circuit 32, the edge output decision circuit 32 and the edge positioning circuit 32, and works so as to generate a desired video signal. A method is also disclosed.
