PURPOSE: To impart sufficient cloth pressing pressure and to perform the stepwise operation of a cloth presser by changing the elevated position of a pair of the cloth pressers based on the individual adjustment of a pair of adjustment means for respectively independently adjusting the connection angle positions of first and second levers with a swing axial as a center.

CONSTITUTION: Since a height different is present between both cloth pressers 9a and 9b, the other cloth presser 9b is still at the elevated position. Also, the height difference can be appropriately changed as needed by adjusting screws 21a and 21b. In such a state, a sewing piece 2 is positioned on the positioning surface 10 of the cloth presser 9a lowered first. Further, when a cloth presser pedal 39 is stepped on, a high tension spring 25a on a side corresponding to the cloth presser 9a is stretched and the cloth pressing pressure corresponding to the step-on amount of the cloth presser pedal 39 is imparted to a working cloth 1. Also, on the side corresponding to the cloth presser 9b, after performing lowering onto the sewing piece 2 first by the high tension spring 25b similarly, the high tension spring 25b is stretched and operated so as to press the sewing piece 2 and the working cloth 1.
