Abstract:
To produce a high softening point coal tar pitch and to provide a method utilizing a high efficiency evaporative distillation for producing an ashless coal tar pitch which does not contain quinoline-insoluble substances and has a desired softening point, and an intermediate layer coal tar pitch.
The method for producing a high softening point coal tar pitch comprises feeding a raw material coal tar pitch having a softening point of 70°C to 160°C into a treating vessel, heating the treating vessel at 300°C to 600°C, and rendering the inner pressure of the treating vessel ≤5 Torr.
