PURPOSE: To successively and automatically coat only the specified part of a workpiece to be coated, by mounting the workpiece to be coated held with a chuck on the head of a turret, and coating said workpiece while confirming its position with an indexing means.

CONSTITUTION: A workpiece W to be coated is held with a chuck 2, mounted on the head 3 of a turret and rotated about a horizontal axis. Whether the axial line of the workpiece W to be coated on the head of the turret directs to a horizontal or vertical direction is indexed at at least three stations by an indexing means, and coating means suited to the workpiece W to be coated on the head 3 of said turret are provided at one or more stations. Thus, the work of coating the specified part of the workpiece to be coated is automatically, uniformly and stably performed.
