PURPOSE: To memorize the editing picture information in any given intermediate medium by converting the row of binary codes used for displaying picture to the extended binary coded decimal interchange code.

CONSTITUTION: The picture processing system consists of original 1, picture reading device 2, compression circuit 3, bit separation circuit 4, code transducer 5 which converts the binary code to the extended binary coded decimal interchange code EBCDIC, circuit with control code 6, magnetic disk memory that memorizes the output of circuit 6, CPU 8, main memory unit 9, key board 10 and picture regenerating system 12(consisting of reverse transducer 14 which converts EBCDIC to binary code and printer 15). Among the tables 50 which convert the 6 bit binary code to the 8 bit EBCDIC, the EBCDIC corresponding to the figures 0∼63 is all corresponding to the codes indicating English numerals and symbols. Therefore, the picture information memorized in EBCDIC is read out and edited in memory 7 and transfered to another intermediate recovering medium, for example, ISO code tape puncher, thus enabling to memorize by perforation.
