To provide a coin receiving device which can prevent a coin from being caught by a discrimination device by adjusting the number of coins thrown in the discriminating device.

The coin receiving device 3 is equipped with a receiving pan 23 which is supplied with plural coins, a belt conveyor 21 which conveys the coins supplied to the receiving pan 23 to the discriminating device discriminating the coins by the money kinds, a quantity confirmation sensor 16 which detects the number of the coins thrown in the discriminating device, and a control means which stops the belt conveyor 21 when the quantity confirmation sensor 16 detects coins being thrown in exceeding a specific quantity. When the quantity confirmation sensor 16 detects coins being thrown in exceeding the specific quantity, the belt conveyor 1 stops, so the number of coins thrown in the discriminating device never exceeds the specific quantity to prevent the coins from being caught by the discriminating device.
