PURPOSE: To obtain a cold-rolling lubricating agent containing ethylhexyl stearate as base oil and capable of providing high-quality rolled plate having good surface gloss without causing burning even if a material having high resistance to deformation is rolled at a high speed and high pressure.
CONSTITUTION: This lubricating agent contains 50-90% of 2-ethylhexyl stearate of the formula (R is a stearic acid residue) as a base oil. As necessary, the lubricating agent can be blended with a higher alcohol for preventing stain of the rolled plate, e.g. lauryl alcohol, a pressure additive for improving burning resistance, e.g. an alkyl phosphate, a rust proofing agent, e.g. an aliphatic amine, an antioxidant for preventing oxidation of the lubricating agent, e.g. ditertiary butylcresol. Furthermore, in the lubricating agent, viscosity at 40°C is preferably 5-20mPa.s. The lubricating agent is preferably used as an emulsion having 1-30% concentration and 3-15μm average value of emulsion particle diameter distribution.
