Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color signal processing unit, where a scale of logic circuits and the power consumption are reduced, and a color signal processing method therefor.
SOLUTION: A solid-state image-pickup element 100 is provided with color filters for a red wavelength signal component, a green wavelength signal component and a blue wavelength signal component, whose passing wavelength band differs corresponding to each pixel of a color image signal respectively and an arbitrary passed wavelength component of a signal of the passing wavelength band passing through the color filters is extracted, a vector arithmetic unit 102 applies arithmetic processing to the signal based on the signal with the extracted pass wavelength band, and a color signal processing unit 106 processes an output signal after the arithmetic processing. Then in comparison with for the conventional arithmetic method for color signal processing, no matrix device is employed but only the vector arithmetic unit 102 is used. Thus, the number of times of multiplications required to obtain an output signal of one pixel is decreased and the processing time for the color signal processing for a single-board type color camera, the circuit scale of the camera, the power consumption and the manufacture cost can be reduced.
