PURPOSE: To obtain the subject colorant for spun-dyeing comprising a pigment and/or a dye and a dispersion medium having specific physical properties without causing separation of the pigment and/or dye from the dispersion medium by adding at the time of forming polyester fibers, films, or the like, and excellent in compatibility and heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: This colorant for spun-dyeing comprises 100 pts.wt. of a pigment and/or a dye, 42-2,000 pts.wt. of a dispersion medium comprising (A) a liquid dispersion medium having ≥700 molecular weight and ≤150 P viscosity at 25°C and/or (B) a liquid polyester dispersion medium (e.g. a copolymer of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid such as adipic acid and an alkylene glycol having 700-3,500 molecular weight) and having ≤25 mg KOH/g hydroxyl value and ≤1,400 pts.wt. of an inorganic filler (e.g. silica or barium sulfate having ≤5 μm particle diameter). The colorant is added to, e.g. a polyester (according to a conventional method) and the spinning and drawing are carried out to afford a colored spun-dyed yarn. A polyether, or the like, represented by formula I [R1 is a 2-17C alkyl; R' is a 2-4C alkylene; (m) is 3-10] and/or formula II [R1 is a 2-17C alkyl; R' is a 2-4C alkylene; R2 is a 2-18C alkyl-substituted aromatic group or the like; (m) is 3-10] are cited as the component A.
