To find a new substance involving colon cancer-suppressing gene APC (Adenomatous Polyposis Coli) and control colon cancer by enabling control of APC.

The invention provides APC gene products, particularly new proteins M1 having binding ability to an armadillo repeat (Arm) site of the gene product, namely a polypeptide composed of an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 of Sequence Table, a polypeptide having a part of the polypeptide, a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide or its complementary strand, a vector containing the polynucleotide or its complementary strand, a transformant having the vector, an antibody against the polypeptide, a method for producing the polypeptide, a method for screening an inhibitor, an antagonist and an activator of function and expression of M1 by utilizing the antibody, and a compound identified by the method and further provides a pharmaceutical composition and diagnostic means used for colon cancer by utilizing those.
