To obtain a composition which can prevent a faulty operation in controlling an apparatus caused by infrared rays by compounding a binder resin, a metal alkoxide and its composite compound, a coloring material, a solvent and a metal salt convertible by baking to a metal oxide capable of absorbing infrared rays.

This colored composition comprises 0.1-30 wt.% of a metal alkoxide and its composite compound, 0.5-80 wt.% of a coloring material comprising a composite oxide of Ti, Ni or the like, 0.1-30 wt.% of a metal salt such as cobalt sulfate, cobalt nitrate or the like convertible by baking at 400°C or a higher temperature to a metal oxide capable of absorbing infrared rays, a binder resin such as a methyl cellulose or the like and a solvent such as methanol or the like. This composition has a shear rate of 5-100 l/s, a shear stress of 20-1,000 dyn/cm2 and a transmittance in the infrared wavelength region of not more than 50%. As the metal alkoxide and its composite compound, are employed Si(OCH3)4, Si(OC4H9)4, Ti(OCH3)4, Ti(OC4H9)4, Al(OC2H5)3 and a mixture thereof.
