PURPOSE: To produce a colored and vacuum plated resin product having excellent adhesiveness by providing a colored base coat layer colored with a coloring agent for which a specific epoxy resin is used on the surface of a synthetic resin molding and vacuum-plating a thin metallic film thereon.

CONSTITUTION: The colored base layer 2 consisting of polyester, etc. is painted on the surface of the synthetic resin molding 1 such as ABS and the thin metallic film 3 is vacuum-plated thereon to about 20W250 film thickness. A clear top coat film 4 is further coated thereto to form the colored and vacuum plated product. The colored base coat layer 2 of the above-mentioned product is colored with the coloring agent prepd. by dispersing an org. or inorg. pigment in an epichlorohydrin bisphenol epoxy resin having approximately 140W1,000 epoxy equiv. and approximately 320W2,000 average mol.wt. The coloring of the base coat layer 2 is thereby facilitated and the colored and vacuum plated resin product having the excellent adhesiveness and adequate for parts for which particularly stringent durability performance is demanded is obtd.
