To exhibit further safety and tolerance, to alleviate pain due to migraine and to treat migraine by administering a combination of a 5HT1 receptor agonist and a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor to mammals.
A medicinal composition is obtaining by including (A) a 5HT1 receptor agonist (preferably eletriptan, rizatriptan or the like) or its medicinally permissible salt together with (B) a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor (e.g. Biox) such as a compound of the formula {R1 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is C(=L')R3; L' is O or S; R3 is OR6 or the like; R6 is a 1-4C alkyl, a 3-7C cycloalkyl or the like; Y shows direct coupling or is a 1-4C alkylene; L is O or S; Q is a 1-6C alkyl, a halo-substituted 1-4C alkyl or the like; X is a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl or the like and; (n) is 0-3} and moreover a medicinally permissible carrier. Migraine is treated using the medicinal composition.
