Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce impact applied to the top face of a piston and noise from the periphery of an engine without lowering output so as to secure output in a high rotation area by specifying the shape dimensions of a squish zone and a dome forming a combustion chamber, relatively to the specific relation.
CONSTITUTION: The diameter L1 of the top face 10a of a dome 10 in a combustion chamber 9 is formed to be almost equal to the diameter of the thread part of a spark plug, and the intersection of the extension line of the inclined face 10b of the inner peripheral wall of the dome 10 is specified within the length range of the thread part of the spark plug. When the area of the face forming concentric circle shape with the dome 10 being surrounded by an intersecting line between the extension line along the inclined face 10b of the dome 10 and a plane passing the maximum diameter part of a squish zone 11 is made S1, and the ring area obtained by subtracting the area S1 from the area of the maximum diameter part of the squish zone 11 is made S2, the areas are specified to the relation of S1<S2. The squish zone 11 thereby becomes large compared to the dome 10, and flame propagation speed in the combustion chamber 9 becomes slow, so that impact applied to the top face 3a of a piston 3 can be reduced.
