Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a more efficient reduction of occurrence of loss of cooling.SOLUTION: An intake side and an exhaust side at a ceiling surface 80 of a combustion chamber 8 are provided with an intake side combustion chamber oblique surface 83 and an exhaust side combustion chamber oblique surface 84 that are oblique downward from a top part P1 of the ceiling surface 80 toward outside in a radial direction, a crestal plane 50 of a piston 5 is provided with an intake side piston oblique surface 53 and an exhaust side piston oblique surface 54 that are oblique from an outer peripheral edge 7a of a cavity 7 outside in a radial direction in opposition to the intake side combustion chamber oblique surface 83 and the exhaust side combustion chamber oblique surface 84, fuel is injected at a later stage of a compression stroke in a low load region A1 and the intake side piston oblique surface 53 is inclined in such a way that a spaced-apart distance from the ceiling surface 80 of the combustion chamber 8 toward the inside in a radial direction may become large and a value of an angle β1 formed between the intake side piston oblique surface 53 and the intake side combustion chamber oblique surface 83 may become larger than an angle β2 formed between the exhaust side piston oblique surface 54 and the exhaust side combustion chamber oblique surface 84.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
