PURPOSE: To provide a combustion controller for an internal combustion engine which can attain stabilized ignition and combustion in the engine by constituting same such that a flow of compressed fuel air mixture having appeared in a second chamber during a compression stroke is injected into a first chamber to produce high turbulent flows therein.
CONSTITUTION: A flow of fuel air mixture having appeared in a second chamber R2 during a compression stroke of an engine is injected by way of a precombustion chamber 11 into a first chamber R1 to scavenge around the electrodes of an ignition plug 9 and to produce high turbulent flows therein. During an explosion stroke of the engine, flame in the precombustion chamber 11 is injected through a first communicating hole 12 into the first chamber R1 as torch flame and simultaneously through a second communicating hole 13 into the second chamber R2 in a direction tangential to the inner wall surface 19 of the cylinder also as torch flame thereby increasing combustion speed in the first chamber R1 and also in the second chamber R2 and simultaneously bringing uncombusted mixture into combustion which is apt to stay along the cylinder inner wall surface, whereby stabilized ignition and combustion can thus be attained.
