Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost combustion device having a superior igniting performance, capable of restricting a discharging of exhaust gas accompanied by non-ignition during ignition and showing a high applicability in operation.
SOLUTION: In a combustion device in which mixture containing hydro-carbon fuel and air is supplied to a combustion cylinder 4 having a catalyst 5 therein so as to ignite mixture gas, the catalyst 5 is divided into an igniting layer 451 carrying an igniting catalyst and a combustion layer 52 positioned at a downstream side of the igniting layer 51 and carrying a combustion catalyst. A carrying amount of the ignition catalyst is increased to attain a low temperature activation and concurrently and the catalyst is constituted by a Pt-Rh system catalyst material showing a low catalyst activation temperature in a region where a large amount of carrying catalyst is found, resulting in that an activating temperature is decreased. A carrying amount of combustion catalyst for a normal combustion is decreased to such a degree as one in which a combustion can be maintained, resulting in that an increasing in cost is restricted and it is constituted by a Pd system catalyst material having a low catalyst activation temperature in a region where a carrying amount of catalyst is less, thereby a catalyst activation is improved and a discharging amount of exhaust gas is made minimum.
