Abstract:

A combustion efficiency apparatus comprises a sensor 11 for measuring the concentration of a constituent gas, e.g. oxygen, of the exhaust gases, a sensor 10 adjacent the sensor 11 for measuring the temperature of the exhaust gases, and a electrical circuit for processing electrical signals from the sensors 10, 11 for providing a signal representative of the combustion efficiency eta . The circuit processes the signals according to the algorithm:- where Lw=fractional loss due to uncondensed water vapor, K4, K5 and K6 are constants V=temperature signal-room temperature reference and U=oxygen sensor signal-air reference.
