To provide a communication system and a communication method that realize connection between terminals bridged over kinds of networks by an SVC(Switched Virtual Channel) and realize an SVC connection between the terminals by selecting an optimum communication network in response to the state of the networks.
This communication system has a network identification means that identifies a kind of a network of an input source of a received message and a network selection means that selects a network of a message output destination and selects an optimum network depending on a state of networks. Concretely, the communication system rewrites contents of an address and contents of a sub address included in the message depending on the kind of the network identified by the network identification means and the kind of the network selected by the network selection means to set a connection between the terminals for the communication between the terminals.
