To provide an illumination source based on a high cost-effective LED as a system with back-light and to provide a method for forming the illumination source.
The illumination source includes two or more LEDs, an LED carrier, and a cover. The LED carrier includes a metallic core jointed with a circuit layer having a mounting pad on an upper face for mounting each LED and a connector, and the connector offer connection to a circuit conductor connected with the mounting pad. The cover is jointed with the LED carrier and has a first opening, which is so positioned that the light from the LED can go outside from the cover, and a second opening by which access to the connector is offered. In encapsulation system, each LED is covered with a layer of sealing material. While the cover is jointed to the LED carrier, optical processing of light from the LED carrier can be performed.
