To provide a component sorting apparatus which can surely remove a component stagnating in component transport paths and is high in operating reliability.
The component transport paths 4a and 4b having component sorting areas 5a and 5b for preventing the passage of a component 1(1a) of a larger size than a prescribed size are formed by combining a first block (upper block) 3a and a second block (lower block) 3b. When a sensor 8 detects a stagnation of the component 1(1a) in the areas 5a and 5b, the lower block 3b is moved by a block driving means 9 to expand the component transport paths 4a and 4b, and the paths 4a and 4b are made to communicate with component discharge paths 11a and 11b. Components are sorted by discharging the component 1(1a) stagnating in the component sorting areas 5a and 5b of the component transport paths 4a and 4b by way of the component discharge paths 11a and 11b.
