Abstract:
To provide a functional composite element useful as, e.g., a catalyst or an electrical double-layer capacitor.
This composite element has a plated layer formed on the surface of a conductive support by electrolytic plating. Functional particles having an intended function are embedded in the plating. The plated layer has openings in its surface and has many fine voids extending toward the direction of its thickness. The functional particles used include, for example, active carbon and particles capable of catalyzing the decomposition of various gases.
