PURPOSE: To mass-produce and to attain an accurate track width independently of its size by producing a composite magnetic head so that a magnetic gap is vertical to the forming face of a metallic core and the forming face of the metallic core is inclined at a required angled to a reference face.
CONSTITUTION: A thin film 31 consisting of a metallic magnetic material and a thin film 32 consisting of an oxide nonmagnetic material are laminated alternately and successively on an upper face 30a of a magnetic substrate 30 consisting of an oxide magnetic material to form a metallic core part 33 having a thickness (t) corresponding to a track width S, thus preparing the first layer-built substrate 34. Thin films 35 and 36 consisting of high-melting point nonmagnetic materials are provided on both faces 30a and 30b of another magnetic substrate 30 to prepare the second layer-built substrate 37. The first layer-built substrate 34 and the second layer-built substrate 37 are piled alternately and are pressured and are heated at the working temperature of thin films 35 and 36 consisting of high-melting point nonmagnetic materials to obtain a composite block 38. This block is cut along cut lines vertical to a metallic core part forming face 33a to obtain composite plates 40. Track width control grooves 41 are provided along both sides of the metallic core part 33 to obtain a grooves composite plate 42.
