Abstract:
To provide a composite material containing an alumite treatment layer having excellent adhesive strength and in which SiC powder is compounded into an aluminum alloy matrix, and to provide its production method.
The method for producing a composite material comprises: a stage where SiC powder is formed to form a preform; a stage where a molten aluminum alloy is press-infiltrated into the preform; a stage where the surplus aluminum alloy stuck to the surface of the composite material obtained by the press infiltration is ground with a desired aluminum alloy layer left; and a stage where the surface of the aluminum alloy layer made to appear by the grinding is subjected to alumite treatment.
