Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material which is useful as an oxidation catalyst capable of sufficiently oxidizing a carbon-containing component, such as soot, at lower temperature, and is excellent in heat resistance in a high-temperature reducing atmosphere at 800°C or higher.SOLUTION: A composite material includes aggregates of metal particles 1 formed of a metal having a smaller ionization tendency than Zn and ceria fine particles covering around the metal particle 1. The aggregate contains at least one additive element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, titanium, and silicon, and a rare earth element.
