Abstract:

To provide an optical material having a high refractive index, excellent light scattering property and environmental characteristics.

A composition for the optical material comprising organic and inorganic components is provided, wherein the composition contains an inorganic component comprising tin oxide, an organic component having a polymerizable functional group and a polymerization initiator. The optical material obtained from the composition is also provided. The inorganic component is obtained from a tin alkoxide or a product prepared by polymerizing a hydrolyzate thereof. At least one selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid, (meth)acrylic esters, epoxy compounds and sulfur-containing organic compounds is used as the organic component.
