Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, containing an inorganic or an organic salt of lactic acid hardly containing D-lactic acid in a carrier and useful for topical administration of an L-lactate under conditions for performing the rapid and high permeation of the L-lactic acid into the skin. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains an inorganic salt or an organic salt of lactic acid hardly containing D-lactic acid in a carrier. The inorganic salt or organic salt of the lactic acid is preferably the one at about 70-100% ratio of the L-lactic acid and the organic salt is an amino acid salt selected from the group consisting of lysine and histidine at pH 3.5-7. At least about 85% of the lactic acid moiety in the salt is preferably L-lactic acid and the inorganic salt is preferably a salt selected from the group consisting of ammonium, Na and K salts.
