Abstract:

To provide a system and method improved in storing/providing data to be used in an associated computer application.

The computer system is the virtual storage system including a physical storage space, a virtual storage space, and non-guaranteed available capacitance to be utilized for creating a virtual storage space non-guaranteed snap shot volume. The system is provided with: the virtual storage system configured to monitor the non-guaranteed available capacitance and to present a report; and a host which is connected to the virtual storage system and configured to execute an application that requests the creation of the non-guaranteed snap shot volume, to access the report to determine the non-guaranteed available capacitance of the virtual storage system, and to issue a request to the virtual storage system for creating at least one non-guaranteed snap shop volume in response to the access to the report.
