Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device connected to a machine tool for enabling a contour of a model to be traced by attaching a probe to a spindle.
CONSTITUTION: A connecting device comprises the first and second parts 20, 22 respectively connected to a shank 16 and a probe 18, and both are integrally retained by a connecting bolt 50 energized by a belleville washer 56. An arm 60 is extended from the second part to be connected to a housing 14 of a spindle 10, whereby the rotation of a spindle shaft 12 is prevented. In the event of accidental spindle start-up, the first and second parts 20, 22 may rotate relative to each other (the shank rotates with the shaft 12), and a thrust bearing 42 enables the sliding of the first and second parts 20, 22.
