Title:
CONNECTING ROD HAVING HIGH FATIGUE STRENGTH AND EXCELLENT TOUGHNESS AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3303030
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod having a high fatigue strength and an excellent toughness.
SOLUTION: A connecting rod is made of iron base sintered alloyal having a composition of 0.2 to 5 wt.% of Cr, 1 to 6 wt.% of Ni 0.1 to 1.0 wt.% of C and the remainder of Fe and inevitable impurities, and a structure in which a ferrite phase is island-likely dispersed in a base material composed of a mixed structure composed of a martensite, austenite and perlite. Further, the density of the surface part thereof is in a range from 7.6 to 7.9 g/cc at a depth of 30 to 200 μm measured from the outer surface thereof, and the density of a part inside of the surface part is in a range of 7.4 f/cc.
