To provide a connector for FPC with a structure in which the opening and closing shaft of a cover housing is not displaced.

The housing 2 has a top side open recess 21 which forms an opening part 20 in which an FPC 1 is inserted, and a plurality of contacts 3 are arranged at the top side open recess 21. The cover housing 4 has the opening and closing shaft 41 which is connected to the housing 2 and when the cover housing 4 opens, the FPC 1 can be inserted into the opening part 20. When the cover housing 4 is closed, the FPC 1 is depressed and contacted to a contact 3. The contact 3 contacts elastically the FPC 1 by a contact 31A of a first arm 31. A second arm 32 has a pivotal support part 32A for supporting rotatably the opening and closing shaft 4. The second arm 32 is made a rigid arm having a large cross-sectional secondary moment so as not to displace the opening and closing shaft 41. A plurality of plate springs 5 maintain the open posture of the cover housing 4.
