PURPOSE: To provide a constant speed traveling device which can realize the safe acceleration curve which can be controlled and corresponds to the individual drive faculty and speed feeling of a driver, as for a constant speed traveling device which converges the speed of the automobile to a previously determined set speed by automatically controlling acceleration and deceleration of the automobile in traveling.

CONSTITUTION: A constant speed traveling device is equipped with a speed adjusting means 12 which varies the speed of an automobile 10 by controlling the power state of a motor 11, speed measuring means 13 for detecting the speed of the automobile 10, control means 14 which controls the speed adjusting means 12 on the basis of the difference value of the detected speed for a previously set speed and converges the speed of the automobile 10 to the set speed, discriminating means 16 for discriminating the technique level of a driver 15, and a control gain adjusting means 17 which adjusts the control means 14 according to the discriminated technique level and varies the acceleration level for the difference value.
