To provide a reader/writer for a contactless IC card which can create service environment, where a user cam operate the IC card conveniently and comfortably, when an IC card having the role and function of identification and data storage is used for diversified services of the same or different fields.
A reader/writer 8 which can read and write information out of and to a plurality of contactless IC card 6 and 7, having the role and function of identification or/and data storage in parallel is configured and connected simultaneously to a host control terminal 3 to freely perform parallel processings for mutual authentication, data reading, data writing, account settlement, etc., by adopting a distinctive constituting means of setting the contactless IC cards 6 and 7 in a card holder 9 one above the other.
