PURPOSE: To absorb vibration due to existence of minute protrusions on the surface of a magneto-optical recording medium by following the vibration when a magnetic head of the contact slide type magnetic field modulating magnetic head device is slid on the magneto-optical recording medium.

CONSTITUTION: A high polymer sheet 5 is used as a slide member of the contact slide type magnetic field modulating magnetic head device having the magnetic head 3 consisting of a core 1 including a coil arranged on the core and a head arm 4 for supporting the magnetic head 3, and the magnetic head 3 is covered with the high polymer sheet 5. In thus case, a gap of 5-300μ is provided between the high polymer sheet 5 and the magnetic head 3.
