PURPOSE: To provide a container for gas generator, which can lighten and downsize a device, and to provide a gas generator using this container.

CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical combustion chamber cup 6 and a cylindrical combustion chamber cover 7, of which opposite ends are opened, are bonded for fixation at the opening ends thereof to form a combustion chamber case 2 for housing an igniting mechanism and gas generating agent. A cylindrical diffuser cup 8 and a cylindrical diffuser cover 9, of which opposite ends are opened, are bonded for fixation at the opening ends thereof to form a diffuser case 3 for housing the combustion chamber case 2 and a cooling scavenger. A top wall 2a and a bottom wall 2b of the combustion chamber case 2 are overlapped with a top wall 3a and a bottom wall 3b of the diffuser case 3 to form the double structure of the top walls 2a, 3a and the bottom walls 2b, 3b.
