PURPOSE: To eliminate an uneven heating of the rice in contact with a container body and out of contact therewith and thereby prevent the cooked rice from browning by using a synthetic resin foam layer in the container body.
CONSTITUTION: A rice boiling container comprises a container body made by forming a laminated sheet consisting of a synthetic resin foam layer and a heat-sealable synthetic resin film layer and a lid body consisting of a heat- sealable synthetic resin film. Polyphenyleneoxide resin is suitable for use in the formation of the synthetic resin foam layer from the aspects of heat resistance and mechanical strength. As the heat-sealable synthetic resin film for lamination with the synthetic resin foam layer and the heat-sealable synthetic resin film for use as the lid body, the resin and polypropylene resin excellent in gas-barrier ability and moisture resistance such as polyvinylidene chloride, ethylene, vinyl-alcohol copolymer, polyethylene terephthalate and polyamide are used as a single film or laminated film consisting of at least two layers.
