PURPOSE: To provide a continuous casting method capable of obtaining a good quality cast slab and utilizing control of an initial solidified shell with using electromagenetic force effective for high speed casting.
CONSTITUTION: In the continuous casting method of steel by means of supplying a molten steel into a mold 1 through an immersed nozzle, when a steel slab is casted with controlling a shape of an initial solidified shell 5a (this invention) by means of directly causing an high frequency electric current 7 to flow to the upper part of the mold 1, a high frequency applied region 12 is arranged in an upper of the mold 1, further, the mold 1, which is made of a material having such a conductivity that the conductivity at the high frequency applied region 12 is higher in comparison with other high frequency applied regions, is used. Thus, it improves the quality and productivity of ingot, further, making a high continuous casting possible.
