PURPOSE: To provide a high speed and highly accurate continuous finger language recognizing device which shows and uses its standard finger language word pattern.

CONSTITUTION: A standard finger language word pattern is shown (through a position pattern collating part 11a, a direction pattern collating part 11b and a shape pattern collating part 11c) by showing each component pattern of the standard finger language word pattern in a single feature vector showing a static pattern in this pattern mode and in the time series of the feature vector in a dynamic pattern mode respectively. Meanwhile each component pattern is recognized by means of the standard finger language word pattern and through the different collating operation carried out to the static and dynamic patterns. Then these results of recognition are integrated based on the time superposition of those component patterns. So that the finger language words are continuously recognized (a finger language word detecting part 12).
