Abstract:

To provide a process for producing a granular nonionic detergent composition containing a nonionic surfactant as the main surfactant by agitation granulation, whereby the deposition within the granulator can be inhibited, and the quantity of production per batch can be increased, which process comprises first fluidizing a powdery material by the rotation of an impeller in a granulator and then supplying a nonionic surfactant at a specified rate of addition.

The rate of addition of the nonionic surfactant has a value satisfying the equation: Q/(N.D3)=(1.0-9.0)×10-5 [wherein Q is the rate (m3/s) of addition; N is the rotation speed (1/s) of the impeller; and D is the diameter (m) of the impeller]. The nonionic surfactant used is desirably a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether having a melting point of at most 40°C and an HLB of 9-16 or the like. It is desirable that the nonionic surfactant is contained in an amount of 10-40 wt.% based on the granular nonionic detergent composition. The powdery material used is exemplified by zeolite or tripolyphosphate. Its amount of addition is 40-80 wt.% based on the detergent composition.
