PURPOSE: To provide a continuously operable protection factor effect device free from the decrease of an electrolyte, regarding a protection factor effect device constituted of an electrolytic cell and a pressure vessel for sealing the cell.
CONSTITUTION: The internal wall of a pressure vessel 6 is applied with an anticorrosive coat 4. The vessel 6 is directly charged with an electrolyte 3, and used as an electrolytic cell. In addition, pressurized deuterium gas D2 is introduced to the inside of the vessel 6. Also, an anode 1 and a cathode 2 are immersed in the electrolyte 3 in the vessel 6. The upper section of the anode 1 comprising a gas diffusion electrode is exposed to the deuterium gas D2. Voltage is applied to both of the cathode 2 and anode 1 from an external power supply, thereby causing a protection factor effect reaction to take place.
