Title:
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001027302
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To achieve a transmission structure as compact as possible and to improve efficiency.

This continuously variable transmission comprises two force transmitting ranges. The first force transmitting range substantially transmits force through variators 3, 4 and a planetary gear 8 and simultaneously through an auxiliary stage 5, a first clutch 7 and the planetary gear 8, while the second force transmitting range transmits force through the variators 3, 4 and a second clutch 9. In the first force transmitting range, the first clutch 7 closes, and the second clutch 9 opens, while in the second force transmitting range, the first clutch 7 opens, and the second clutch 9 closes. This continuously variable transmission further comprises four shafts 12, 13, 14, 15. The input shaft 12 is disposed between the first intermediate shaft 14 and the second intermediate shaft 15, so that these three shafts 12, 14, 15 are positioned substantially in one plane, while the third intermediate shaft 13 is placed so as to be positioned next to the plane.
