Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission, which can perform smoothly the gearing of a splitter transmission mechanism irrespective of the gearing state of a main transmission mechanism.SOLUTION: A target shift state is set in accordance with the running state of a vehicle, and individual cylinders 8, 14a and 14b are driven and controlled to achieve the target shift state thereby to change the shift stages of a splitter transmission mechanism 3B and a main transmission mechanism 3A of an automatic transmission 3 properly. In the case the gearing for switching the shift stage of the splitter transmission mechanism 3B on the basis of the target gear stage is impossible (Yes at S20), the main transmission mechanism 3A is returned to a neutral, and the gearing of the splitter transmission mechanism 3B is retried (at S22).
