ECU starts fuel increase compensation control (S400) when the engine is started (S100), and engine cooling water temperature THW is equal to or less than low temperature side threshold value THW(L) (S300). The ECU executes a program including steps of: (S500) detecting an operation condition of the engine; (S600) calculating heat release value ΔQ from the operation condition of the engine; (S 700) estimating intake valve temperature TV based on the heat release value; (S800) calculating remaining time t until valve temperature TV gets to valve temperature threshold value TV(H) at which sufficient gasification characteristics are provided; (S900) calculating an attenuation factor K of fuel increase to make fuel increase quantity 0 when the remaining time t gets 0; and (S1000) calculating fuel increase quantity from fuel increase initial value X attenuation factor K. The program is repeatedly executed until valve temperature TV gets to valve temperature threshold value TV(H) or higher.
