Abstract:

To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of accurately estimating the valve clearance.

This control device of an internal combustion engine acquires an internal pressure in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine, and based on the internal pressure acquired, estimates the valve clearance. For example, the valve clearance is estimated according to one of the maximum internal cylinder pressure per one cycle, the integral value of the internal pressure within the range of a predetermined crank angle, and the actual opening and closing timings of an intake valve and an exhaust valve. They accurately reflect the state of the valve clearance. Consequently, the valve clearance can be accurately estimated by the control device of the internal combustion engine.
