Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to detect a failure in an EEPROM from a specific range to the entire area without using a complicated algorithm while ensuring failure detection accuracy.SOLUTION: A control device groups control data of a Backup RAM to be stored in an EEPROM, calculates a SUM value of the control data during writing in the EEPROM for each of the groups, and holds the value as Backup RAM and writes to store in the EEPROM. At the subsequent energization after a power supply cutoff period, the control device calculates the SUM value of a control data value read out from the EEPROM for each of the groups, when the SUM value stored in the EEPROM matches with the value of the SUM value held as Backup RAM, determines that the value of Backup RAM is correct, and compares the SUM value held as Backup RAM with the SUM value calculated from the control data value read out from the EEPROM to determine whether the EEPROM is in failure (NG) or a normal state (OK).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
