Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to give a friction test for a moving part of a control rod drive mechanism even during the operation of a nuclear reactor by controlling the flow rate and pressure of high-pressure water supplied to the control rod drive mechanism and providing a detecting means.

CONSTITUTION: Purge water whose pressure is heightened by a pump 27 is supplied from a purge water header 42 through pipes 24 and 41 of a water pressure control unit 20 and a pipe 42 to a control rod drive mechanism 1. By operating a throttle 17 in preparation for a friction test, a flow rate is set equal to that supplied to the control rod drive mechanism 1 in the friction test. Whether or not the purge water flows at the set flow rate is confirmed by a flowmeter 19. Moreover, the pressure is set at a value equal to that required in the friction test. The pressure is adjusted by operating a scram valve 23 and the throttle 17 and is confirmed by a pressure gauge 18. Then, the pressure is judged if it exceeds the controlled value of the fluctuation in the friction of the moving part of the control rod drive mechanism 1, while it is judged to be adequate or not.
