Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in vehicle driving torque when a locked operating state of a motor is detected and an engine is started.
SOLUTION: A rotational speed of the motor 2 and a junction temperature of a switching element in the near future after an engine start-up time are continuously estimated, and according to the estimates, if the motor 2 is determined to be in a locked state and require torque limiting after the engine start-up time, the engine 3 is started immediately. When the motor 2 is in a locked state and requires torque limiting, the engine 3 is started to generate torque immediately. The engine torque can immediately compensate vehicle driving torque insufficient caused by the torque limiting of the motor 2 to thus prevent a reduction in the vehicle driving torque when the motor 2 is in a locked state.
