The control unit 1 is provided with a control mechanism 9 having first and second groups of buttons 13, 15 corresponding to a plurality of functions relating to the device 3 in the dashboard; and a processing device 5 capable of executing a specific function relating to the equipment in the dashboard while responding to operations of the groups of buttons 13, 15. The processing device 5 controls a display device 11 so as to display images of the buttons 13, 15 and allocates the plurality of functions relating to the equipment 3 in the dashboard to the respective buttons belonging to the second group of the buttons 15 when at least one button belonging to the first group of the buttons 13 is operated. Further, a picture of the display device 11 is updated in order to display contents of these functions.
